The scope of this turnkey project encompassed the full design, supply, installation, commissioning, and handover of critical infrastructure assets.
These include the Vunumoya 400kV/132kV Main Transmission Substation (MTS), the 132kV Vunumoya Substation (SS), the 132kV transmission line, the 400kV loop-in loop-out (LILO), as well as transposition towers with associated remote-end upgrades for Eskom, in accordance with the stipulated self-build agreement.
Tractionel Enterprise was appointed to manage and execute the complete construction works. Our mandate extended across engineering design, manufacturing, factory acceptance testing, and rigorous quality assurance.
Additionally, we were responsible for the secure transportation, precise installation, and commissioning of all components on-site. The project also included the full rehabilitation of the site upon completion, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards. With an approximate project value of R860,000,000. This significant development is undertaken on behalf of our client, UmmBila Emoyeni (RF) Proprietary Limited.
Tractionel Enterprise was formally appointed on 09 November 2023, with execution taking place in the Mpumalanga Province. This project was delivered on time and in budget, having been officially handed over to NTCSA on the 26 thof November 2025.
