Goodwood OHTE Relocation Project 26-04-2023

The Tractionel team embarked on the Goodwood station OHTE relocation project in Cape Town in September 2022. The team worked diligently to meet the clients’ expectations regarding the project’s timeline and budget. The client, DCI Community Housing Services, Consultant Gibb, and end-user PRASA were equally impressed by the Tractionel team’s commitment and ability to overcome challenges throughout the project. Construction, as you know, is never easy, and we encountered some obstacles along the way. However, we excelled in overcoming them.
Tractionel’s scope of work included the following aspects of the project:
Supply, installation, erection, making-off, reconnection, testing and commissioning of equipment, materials, and labour on the following aspect of the works:
- Supply and installation of foundations, excavations, and OHTE masts.
- Supply and installation of small part components attached to the OHTE masts.
- Supply and installation of 3kV DC overhead track equipment using new fittings.
- Supply and installation of new fixing bolts and OHTE support brackets fixed to the underside of the pedestrian bridge.
- Supply and installation of new 11kV and 33kV support structures.

- Provision of operating manuals, electrical diagrams, as-built drawings, and other documentation.
Our Tractionel Project Manager, Benlie Van den Berg, expressed his gratitude for everyone involved in the project. He sincerely appreciated the support, assistance, and commitment demonstrated throughout. While there are too many individuals to praise individually, the entire team knows who they are. A special thanks was given to the site execution team led by oom Jan Bower. Their dedication, even during weekends, after hours, and unfavourable weather conditions in Cape Town, made a significant difference. Without their teamwork, the successful completion of this project would not have been possible, being part of the Tractionel Team was an absolute privilege, and it truly exemplified the saying…
“Teamwork makes a dream work!”
